How to Engage Customers Around their Passions

how to engage customers around their passionsThere are companies that depend on new product roll outs and new flavor versions to grow their business, an example would be the fashion industry. But let's face it most companies grow and make a very nice profit by reselling the same product over and over.

So if you are one of these companies and you've just about exhausted promos, coupons, price slashing and seasonal specials; what can you do to make your old reliable product seem new, effective and relevant all over again. How do you add excitement without rolling out new versions of your products or services?

One solution that works is to focus on increasing online engagement via Social Media Monitoring by staying close to the consumer's mindset and keep sales moving.

Here's how you can do that:

  • First listen to social media conversations around the brand and its closest competitors in order to figure out what's making owners and users tick.
  • Then once you id these competitors, compare the category drivers (product features) and organize them by brand. Find the conversations and comments based on these benefits and features.
  • Get the gist of the conversations and sentiment around the product, such as customization, sharing and try to separate from competing brands.
  • Dig deeper into brand conversations in order to figure out if or when the brand has become part of a culture or certain group personalities.

Once armed with these insights then get busy designing the proper advertising strategy that can best resonate with both the consumer's passions and needs. Content Marketing will be your strongest weapon in your arsenal here, have no doubt about this!

You see there's nothing more important than understanding not only who your talking to, but who's talking about you and why. Social media monitoring is a proven strategy that can help you make that connection.

As a final note I'll say this, don't let anyone dissuade you by saying that it works better with products than services, or b2c markets instead of b2b. Don't let technicalities drive your strategy. Keep it human, simple and accessible and watch your authority, leads and sales take off!
