This post is really an introduction to my Facebook fan page which is titled exactly like that:

But as with all things new, a bit of promo at least in the beginning is never a bad thing!…Regardless, the Fan Page’s name, and title to this post has a deeper meaning for me…
I’ve noticed a few changes in the way that we influence each other as people individually, in business and society as a whole.
I see an opportunity to become collectively conscious of the impact that these social tools and their further development can have on all of us. As all technologies however, they are as good as the hands they are in, I grant that much, but it would also be unfair not to point out the incredible chance we have to simply be better because of them.
“Redefining Influence” it’s about understanding, engaging, giving and sharing in a 2.0 environment
The power to be influential has become about the right to be influential and authority in the social space can only be earned , not purchased. Transparency, as much a buzzword as it is, has become the core value consumers come to expect from brands.
This may come as a surprise to some but we are more connected and less isolated today than ever before. Even though no one has a clue what the future is going to look like I for one am optimistic about our chances. If we keep our priorities straight who knows! we might just have a good chance to turn things around…Is Social Technology the catalyst, the medium?
