Remember that? Then your parents answer would be something like, “If they all jumped off a cliff, would you follow as well?”
Still makes me wanna go buy 20 “Frankie Says Relax” t-shirts just to spite them!
So why take a leap into Social Media? Is it because everyone’s doing it? It’s the cool thing to do, the flavor of the month? A rad fad?
My short, coffee shop answer is: No, you don’t do it because everyone else is doing it or are thinking about doing it. You should do it, because that’s where You and your Business are being searched for and you are nowhere to be found…instead those potential relationships are finding your colleagues.
We influence our peers mostly by being in the now…being present, accessible and radically genuine. There is no secret, no trick…and there is no way around the sweat equity that it takes to achieve positive influence.
I know you wanted one of those t-shirts also!

Claudio…I just have to tell you, your commenting system is not intuitive..By the time you get to the bottom of a post, the comments tab is scrolled off. >:.[
Now, onto something else. The comment I wanted to make here.
With regard to search etc, something I read not long ago was by Keith Tsudo. He didn’t coin this phrase but it is where I last read it and it’s incredibly applicable.
“If you aren’t on the internet, you don’t exist.”
Quite a statement isn’t it? It certainly backs up what you’re saying here. You see, in todays world, if some young college student wants to find something they don’t pick up a phone book. In truth, if I want to find something I don’t pick up a phone book. If you don’t have a presence, some place online I can find you I will simply choose from the choices I have online. This is the only way our kids know how to do anything, and even us oldsters are starting to be this way. I’m completely enmeshed.
Good for you for recognizing what you need to do and doing something about it. You are a smart guy.
Hi Sheryl, thanks for pointing that out on my comment system, I’ll get on it…
Definitely nowadays if you are not on the grid you basically don’t exist…and I’ll quote I believe it was Chris Anderson who also said “Your brand is not what you say it is…it’s what Google says it is”
To a large degree I tend to agree with that ( without getting into GogglePlex politics). Like you said for you and I this is a very intuitive state of being, we are “enmeshed” what I find interesting is that in the Enterprise majority it’s still not a commonly understood reality. This has almost forced (in a good way) to create a mini-intro-program for new clients on how to develop their social graph. Almost done with it, I think it might be “smashing”…will also write a post about it.
How’s the lighthouse keeper and how was your trip…? One of these days I’m just going to show up in Walla Walla (…not in the winter though ) and just take you guys to lunch…and you can take me to dinner
Later!
